DUBAI – Ras Al Khaimah has recorded its strongest tourism performance to date, welcoming 1.35 million overnight visitors in 2025, according to figures released by the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority.

The milestone represents a 6% year-on-year increase in overnight arrivals, alongside a 12% rise in tourism revenues, reinforcing the Emirate’s accelerating momentum as a future-ready destination. Tourism continues to play a central role in driving economic resilience while creating long-term value for residents, investors and the wider visitor economy.

The record results reflect a year marked by expanded international connectivity, new hospitality openings, major destination developments and a growing calendar of global events. Progress across aviation, cruise tourism, investment partnerships and sustainability initiatives has further strengthened Ras Al Khaimah’s position as one of the UAE’s fastest-growing tourism destinations, with a clear pathway towards its long-term ambition of welcoming more than 3.5 million visitors annually by 2030.

Phillipa Harrison, Chief Executive Officer of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, said 2025 represented a defining chapter for the Emirate’s tourism sector. She noted that growth had extended beyond headline visitor numbers to include the diversification of experiences, international partnerships and destination infrastructure, laying the foundations for sustained, value-led tourism development in the years ahead.

Growth across source markets and travel segments

Tourism growth in 2025 was underpinned by strong performances across both domestic and international source markets. Domestic tourism recorded a 7% increase, supported by expanded leisure offerings and an enhanced calendar of cultural, sporting and outdoor events that continued to attract UAE residents throughout the year.

Internationally, Ras Al Khaimah registered double-digit growth across several priority markets. Visitor arrivals from India increased by 14%, reflecting strengthened airline partnerships and the Emirate’s growing appeal as a family, leisure and wedding destination. China recorded a 19% rise in arrivals, driven by improved air connectivity, increased visibility across digital platforms and partnerships with leading online travel agencies. The United Kingdom saw a 10% increase, reinforcing its position as one of the Emirate’s most important European source markets, while arrivals from Russia rose by 20% year-on-year.

Expanded direct air connectivity also unlocked significant growth from emerging European and Central Asian markets. Romania recorded a 41% increase in visitors, Poland rose by 22%, Uzbekistan by 19% and Belarus by 26%. These gains were supported by new direct routes and enhanced flight frequencies, allowing Ras Al Khaimah to broaden its international reach and reduce reliance on traditional feeder markets.

In parallel, the Emirate’s meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions, alongside destination weddings, continued to deliver high-value growth. MICE and Weddings revenues rose by 25% in 2025, driven by large-scale international conferences, incentive travel programmes and a growing number of high-profile weddings. Enhanced venue infrastructure, specialist event services and tailored destination experiences have positioned Ras Al Khaimah as a rising regional hub for business events and celebrations.

Leadership shaping the next phase

A significant milestone in 2025 was the appointment of Phillipa Harrison as Chief Executive Officer of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority. She joined the organisation in August, bringing extensive international experience from her previous role leading the national tourism strategy at Tourism Australia.

Her appointment marked the start of a new phase in the Emirate’s tourism journey, reinforcing its commitment to transformational destination growth and long-term value creation. Under her leadership, Ras Al Khaimah is advancing its ambition to exceed 3.5 million annual visitors by 2030, with a clear focus on sustainability, diversification and community engagement.

Expanding hospitality portfolio

Ras Al Khaimah continued to strengthen and diversify its hospitality offering throughout 2025, welcoming new hotel openings while advancing a robust development pipeline. The opening of Rove Al Marjan Island introduced a contemporary, lifestyle-led beachfront experience, while SO/ Ras Al Khaimah joined the Emirate’s portfolio under Accor’s luxury brand collection, adding design-led hospitality aimed at experience-driven travellers.

Beyond completed openings, the year saw major announcements from global hospitality brands including Janu, Four Seasons, Fairmont, Taj and NH Collection. These developments form part of the Emirate’s broader strategy to double its hotel room inventory by 2030, supporting long-term tourism growth while catering to a wide spectrum of traveller segments, from luxury and lifestyle to family-friendly and extended stays.

Investor confidence was further reflected in the continued progress of Wynn Al Marjan Island, the UAE’s first integrated resort. In 2025, the landmark project reached a major construction milestone, with its 70-storey tower topping out at 283 metres, making it the tallest structure in the Emirate. The USD 5.1 billion destination has now entered its next phase of interior fit-out and façade completion.

Scheduled to open in 2027, Wynn Al Marjan Island will feature 1,530 rooms and suites, 22 food and beverage venues, a theatre, luxury retail spaces and a marina. The resort is expected to create more than 9,000 jobs and generate a new wave of international visitation, significantly enhancing Ras Al Khaimah’s global profile and high-end tourism appeal.

Transformational destination developments

Alongside hospitality investment, a new generation of master-planned developments is reshaping Ras Al Khaimah’s urban and tourism landscape. In 2025, the Emirate unveiled Marjan Beach, described as the UAE’s most ambitious beachfront masterplan to date. Spanning 85 million sq ft, the development will feature 12,000 hotel keys and 22,000 residential units, with 30% of the area dedicated to open green spaces and public realms.

Designed with a sustainability-first approach, Marjan Beach integrates environmentally responsible urban planning principles, supporting Ras Al Khaimah’s broader commitment to balanced, long-term growth. The project is expected to significantly enhance the Emirate’s beachfront offering while creating vibrant mixed-use communities for residents and visitors alike.

Progress also continued at RAK Central, a new mixed-use commercial district aimed at attracting global talent, entrepreneurs and investors. All commercial plots at RAK Central were sold out within a year of launch, highlighting strong investor confidence in the Emirate’s economic vision. The district is set to play a central role in supporting business tourism, corporate relocation and knowledge-based industries.

Events driving visibility and liveability

Ras Al Khaimah’s expanding calendar of signature events played a key role in elevating the Emirate’s cultural and sporting profile in 2025. The 18th edition of the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon attracted more than 10,000 participants and spectators, marking its highest attendance to date and reinforcing its reputation as one of the region’s most anticipated long-distance races.

The UAE Tour returned for its seventh consecutive Jebel Jais Mountain Stage, showcasing Ras Al Khaimah’s dramatic landscapes to a global cycling audience. Adventure tourism also continued to gain traction with the return of HIGHLANDER, the internationally recognised long-distance hiking challenge, which highlighted the Emirate’s growing appeal among outdoor and wellness-focused travellers.

On the cultural front, the 13th Ras Al Khaimah Art Festival brought together more than 100 regional and international artists, reinforcing the Emirate’s role as a platform for creative exchange. The Exotic Wedding Planning Conference returned for its second edition, drawing global event planners and reaffirming Ras Al Khaimah’s positioning as a destination for luxury weddings.

The year also saw the launch of the inaugural International Real Estate Investment Summit, which further strengthened the Emirate’s profile as a venue for high-level investment dialogue and cross-border collaboration.

Ras Al Khaimah closed the year with a large-scale New Year’s Eve celebration, setting a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the largest aerial display of a phoenix formed by multirotors or drones. A total of 2,300 drones illuminated the night sky, followed by a six-kilometre fireworks display along the coastline, drawing international attention to the Emirate’s event capabilities.

Connectivity through air and sea

Expanded air connectivity continued to open new access channels to Ras Al Khaimah in 2025. Ras Al Khaimah International Airport launched new direct routes from Jeddah, Warsaw, Katowice, Bucharest, Moscow, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Minsk, Tashkent and Prague. These routes were supported by strengthened airline partnerships with IndiGo, Air India Express and Air Arabia.

Plans were also unveiled for a VIP private aviation terminal at Ras Al Khaimah International Airport, targeting LEED Gold certification and scheduled to open in 2027. The new facility is expected to enhance the Emirate’s appeal to premium and private aviation travellers, supporting growth in luxury tourism and high-net-worth visitation.

Cruise tourism also recorded progress through a new multi-year partnership with Celestyal Cruises. The agreement aims to increase cruise arrivals and position Ras Al Khaimah as a preferred stop for smaller, upscale vessels focused on nature, culture and wellness-led itineraries within the Arabian Gulf.

Partnerships and industry recognition

Strategic partnerships remained central to Ras Al Khaimah’s tourism growth throughout 2025. The Tourism Development Authority signed memoranda of understanding with leading online travel agencies including Trip.com and Tongcheng in China, alongside Fursan Travel, Almatar and Wego in Saudi Arabia. These agreements expanded distribution channels across priority markets and strengthened the Emirate’s digital reach.

Ras Al Khaimah also enhanced its luxury positioning by joining invitation-only travel networks Virtuoso and Serandipians by Traveller Made. Membership of these networks places the Emirate among a select group of global destinations catering to discerning travellers seeking curated, high-end experiences.

On the workforce and community front, the launch of the BeRAK app introduced a first-of-its-kind platform designed to enhance wellbeing and engagement among tourism sector employees. The inaugural RAK Tourism Excellence Awards further recognised innovation, leadership and best practice across the industry, from culinary creativity to environmental responsibility.

RAKTDA was also named Employer of the Year in the Government Sector at the GCC GOV HR & Youth Awards, highlighting its people-first approach and focus on building a resilient, empowered tourism workforce.
